Wainscott

A small pastoral community perfect for those looking for peace and quiet. Welcome to Wainscott.

Wainscott is the definition of small but mighty. While the hamlet is only home to a few hundred residents — it had a one-room schoolhouse until 2008 — it has some of the most opulent homes in the Hamptons. Its agricultural roots can still be found in some of its architecture and the active farms still there today. Its beaches and green spaces provide a perfect place to reconnect with nature.

While downtown Wainscott isn’t as flashy as some other Hamptons hamlets, what is there shows that sometimes it’s quality over quantity. Antique stores sell quirky vintage goods, and restaurants like The Seafood Shack and Breadzilla serve fresh local fare. The beloved NYC institution Leviathan Bakery — famous for its decadent chocolate chip walnut cookie — has a storefront here, too. Take advantage of the natural beauty Wainscott offers by strolling on the beach or renting a kayak to explore Georgica Pond, a beautiful coastal lagoon.

Wainscott’s architecture is perhaps some of the Hamptons’ finest. Beautifully redone and preserved farm homes stand near some of the most luxurious mansions the East End offers. Away from the coast, rural woodland estates can make you forget that you’re close to the ocean. Wainscott is the perfect place for people looking for a quiet community not far from the bustle of other Hampton town centers.
