East Hampton

Upscale charm meets rustic beach beauty along the shore of Long Island. Welcome to East Hampton.

When you think of “The Hamptons,” odds are you’re picturing the beautiful little village of East Hampton. This beachside community, located in a larger town also called East Hampton, has become a summer resort destination thanks to its stunning shoreline and long list of high-society residents. Don’t be surprised to find yourself bumping elbows with celebrities as you stroll through the boutique-lined downtown or eat at local restaurants. Despite its notoriety, East Hampton never feels too crowded, thanks partly to the limited number of beach parking passes handed out to non-residents every season.

During the warmer months, the white-sand beaches of East Hampton are a must-visit, offering fun for all ages and tranquil views of the Atlantic. After a day spent soaking in the sun, stroll down picturesque Main Street for some shopping. High-end retailers like Ralph Lauren and Club Monaco sit next to small boutiques and shops like BookHampton, the local independent bookstore. The village offers a range of dining options for any time of day, but no matter if you opt for fine dining or casual fare, you can expect fresh seafood, local produce, and high-quality dishes.

Because of its small size and strict building codes, East Hampton still feels like a relatively exclusive community. Properties are not very close together, giving residents their privacy and space. The Hamptons-style architecture — beach breezy meets country chic — is known worldwide: Many homes here have large windows, sweeping verandas, and a unique mix of timber and stone siding. While the beaches and downtown offer plenty to do and see, historic East Hampton is a peaceful community for homeowners and renters alike.
